June 8 - 12

Hello!

Some important reminders:

  • Our class will be having a Board Game Day on Friday, June 19th. Students are welcome to bring a board game (or multiple) from home to share and play with their classmates. If your child brings a game, please ensure it is clearly labeled with their name and is appropriate for group play. Also, please make sure you and your child are comfortable with other students handling and playing the game, as it will be shared during the activity.
  • We heard from CBE Transportation today that only 28 families have registered for the school bus for next year (out of the 157 families that needed the school bus this year). Early registration is essential to ensure your child can ride the bus to get to school and back at the start of the school year. Families who require school bus transportation for 2026–2027 must pre-register through their MyCBE Parent account. Registering this month is critical—families who miss the deadline may experience up to a six- to eight-week delay in accessing bus service while their child is being added to the system. (This means you would need to get your child to and from school without the bus for up to six to eight weeks while registrations get processed.)
  • If your child will not be attending NLS for the next school year (2026-2027), please send me an email informing me. *This is not for students who will be attending Alex Munro - you do not need to send me an email*.
  • If your child will be going on vacation/will be absent for the last few days of school, please send me an email informing me.
  • Please send you child with a reusable bag sometime early next week. This bag will stay on their coat hooks and will be filled as I begin to hand back student work. The bags will be sent home on the last week of school.

Here is what we have been up to this week:

Social Studies - We started our Year End Social Studies project! We spent Monday planning and began working on this for the rest of the week.

Math - We learned about Statistics! We learned how to formulate a statistical question and we went around and collected data for our questions. We also learned about 3 different types of graphs.

Art with Mrs. Kiddell! Ask your child about this!

Science - This week, we explored animal tracks and read some books on Chromebooks about animal tracks, animal adaptations, plant adaptations, animal habitats and invertebrates and vertebrates. We also finished our task about the 5 tropisms (ask your child about this!)
