April 20 - 23

Hello Everyone!

Some important reminders below:

  • Our field trip to VIVO is next Thursday in the afternoon. We will be walking there and will NOT be bringing our backpacks. Students may bring a water bottle, and one or two small snacks that fits in their pockets (no containers). Students will have eaten their lunch before we leave for the field trip.

  • If you are volunteering for the field trip, please see the email I sent today. Reach out if you have any questions.

  • Families should continue to check the blog every week as we highlight the important learning we are doing in the classroom.
Here is what we have been up to this week:

Poetry - This week, we learned about cinquains and concrete poems. We worked on our rough copy and completed our good copy in our visual journals. We also took some time on Wednesday to write an Earth Day poem.

Food Nutrition Program - We had guests (Ms. Jamie and Ms. Sydney) who showed us how to make pasta salad. We also learned how to properly use a knife, how to distinguish between nutritious food and junk food, and learned how to read a nutritious label.

P.E. - We got into groups and created our own Drum Fit routines! Some groups even got to perform their routine in front of their peers.

Math - We took a few days this week to work on Algebra and word problems. We had our Show What You Know today. Mrs. Desai reminded us multiple times that it is extremely important to triple check their work (not just in math, but at all times) - we need to use our executive functioning skills!

Social Studies - We worked on a poster about colonies, home countries, imperialism and colonization.

Affixes of the Week -
