Hello Everyone!

Some important reminders below:

  • As we begin planning for the upcoming school year, we kindly ask that you complete the Enrolment Intentions Form in your MyCBE Parent Account within SchoolEngage. This form will show the school your child is designated to attend next year.

    Please indicate on the form whether your child will be:

    • Attending the indicated designated school
    • Attending another school within the Calgary Board of Education (CBE)
    • Attending a school outside of the Calgary Board of Education

    If you indicate that your child will not be attending their designated school next year, we will inform the designated school of your intentions.

    Accurate enrolment information helps us plan staffing, classroom organization, and resources to best support our students. We understand that plans for the 2026–27 school year may not be finalized. Regardless, we ask that you complete the form based on your current information and intentions. Completion of the form is not considered a firm commitment.   • Families should continue to check the blog every week as we highlight the important learning we are doing in the classroom.
Here is what we have been up to this week:

We began our Human Sexuality unit on Monday and will take some time on Tuesday to finish up.

If your child participated in learning the unit, we encourage you to ask them about what they learned and how the lessons went. This can be a great opportunity to continue open, supportive conversations at home.

If your child did not participate in learning the unit, please consider using the resource below to help guide for age-appropriate conversations about puberty at home. These discussions can support your child’s understanding and help them feel more comfortable as they grow and develop.



Poetry - We learned about Haikus and Colour Poems this week. We created the good copy of our poems in our visual journals.

 

  

 

Science - We learned about the hydrosphere this week. The hydrosphere includes all the water on Earth. We created a visual journal page dedicated to the hydrosphere.


 

 

Math - We are working hard on our Algebra unit. Sometimes, writing an equation from a word problem is difficult. We will practice more next week and our Show What You Know will be on Thursday.

 

 

Art - Zoomed in Flowers inspired by Georgia O'Keeffe. We selected a flower that we connected with. Then we selected a specific part of the flower to zoom in on and recreate. We added colour to our flower using oil pastels. 


 

 

 


P.E. - We started our Drum Fit unit! So fun learning from the Drum Fit Master :)

  • April 20 - Enrolment Intentions Forms due by Monday (using a computer, not a phone or tablet if you have difficulties)
  • April 22 – EARTH DAY SPIRIT DAY: Wear blue or green for Earth Day
  • April 22 – Grade Four Nutrition Program
  • April 24 – Non-Instruction Day – No school for students
  • April 30 – Ms. Herron and Mrs. Desai Vivo Field Trip
  • May 14 - Super Hero Family Dance - 6:00 to 8:00 (See the Northern Lights News for ticket information)

Hello 4C Families! A few important reminders for back to school: Please ensure that you check the blog every Friday as this will be the main form of communication regarding student activities during the school day and upcoming events. Please also read through the Northern Lights News every Friday - found on the school website here. Personal Mobile Devices and Social Media Use in Our School - K - 9 students will not be permitted to use personal mobile devices during the school day. Student devices brought to school must be out of sight and either powered off or set to silent. Welcome! We are so excited to be starting the 2024-2025 year with you! This year, our whole school will be using Blogger to make regular agenda posts.  To make it easier for you, you can add the blog right on to the home screen of your phone or iPad by following the directions on the “Adding Blogger to Home Screen” document. We hope this makes the communication between home and school easier and opens up great conversations between you and your child.  The CBE and Mrs. Brinson will be communicating information to you through School Messenger email titled ‘Northern Lights News for ___”. Some important reminders (especially the ones in RED !): Please ensure that you check the blog every Friday as this will be the main form of communication regarding student activities during the school day and upcoming events. To support your child’s literacy skills, I encourage you to set aside time each day for reading at home. Sharing stories together or letting your child choose their favourite books can make reading a fun and enjoyable experience. Your involvement plays a crucial role in developing their love for reading and improving their skills. Every two months, I send home a Scholastic book flyer. If you want to purchase books for your child to read at home, please use the code that is written on the flyer. Using my code helps me gain reward points that I can use towards buying books for the classroom library. You can also obtain a library card and check out books for your child free of cost.
