February 17 - 20

Happy Friday!

Some important reminders below:

  • Make sure you are working on your division facts!
  • Families should continue to check the blog every week as we highlight the important learning we are doing in the classroom.
Here is what we have been up to this week:

Brave Like The Buffalo -  We had an assembly for our author visit. Melissa Allan came into our school to read us her book, sang a song for us and answered some of our questions.

Literacy Stations - We began working on two new literacy stations - art critique and word matrix. Ask your child about this!

Math - We continued working on long division. Next week, we will learn a new long division strategy and learn how to solve word problems that involve long division. Our Show What You Know will be either the end of next week or the first week of March.

Buddies - We decorated a piece of paper plate which represents a dragon scale - for our Lunar New Year dragon parade. On our scale, we drew where we come from (flag) or a cultural tradition we follow.

Writing - We wrote about the planet we researched. We learned how to write a hamburger paragraph back in September and November. Those skills should not have been forgotten! We discussed in detail what a 2, 3, and a 4 looks like in Gr. 4 when writing.

Root of the Week - metr, cred and ped/pod
