Hello 4C Families,

Some important reminders below:

  • We began to learn long division. Boy, oh, boy. We did have a lot of people feel frustrated as we learned this process. But this was our first day learning it. We will practice lots next week, and the week after. HOMEWORK THIS WEEKEND - get fluent with division facts!
  • See below about an important reminder regarding Valentine's Day

Valentine's


This year, Valentine’s Day is on Saturday, February 14 but the last day of classes that week is Wednesday, February 11.  Our class will recognize and approach Valentine’s Day discussions as opportunities for students learn more about how their actions of kindness, gratitude, friendship and small, thoughtful gestures can positively impact the world around them - on February 11th.

If you child would like to bring a message of kindness to other students before February 11, we ask that you respect the following expectations:  
  • Each child in the class should receive a message if your child would like to send something.  (There is no expectation that your child will send a message, but we request that if your child does bring a note or Valentine that no student in their class is left out.) 
  • What is written is kind 
For safety reasons, no candy, chocolate or other food items can be handed out. (If your child brings any candy, chocolate or food items, they will be sent back home with them.) Thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

Gym - we started learning about curling.

ELAL - We learned about timelines! Everyone did a wonderful job completing their homework. We will be presenting our timelines on Monday/Tuesday.
  

 


Math - This week, we learned how to solve word problems that involve three-digit numbers multiplied by one-digit numbers. We also had a Show What You Know. Today, we started learning about long division.


 

 
 


 

 

 

 

 

 


Science - We are learning about space. Today, we started our Space Research project! 

 

 

 

Health - We continued learning about healthy eating.

Hello 4C Families! A few important reminders for back to school: Please ensure that you check the blog every Friday as this will be the main form of communication regarding student activities during the school day and upcoming events. Please also read through the Northern Lights News every Friday - found on the school website here. Personal Mobile Devices and Social Media Use in Our School - K - 9 students will not be permitted to use personal mobile devices during the school day. Student devices brought to school must be out of sight and either powered off or set to silent. Welcome! We are so excited to be starting the 2024-2025 year with you! This year, our whole school will be using Blogger to make regular agenda posts.  To make it easier for you, you can add the blog right on to the home screen of your phone or iPad by following the directions on the “Adding Blogger to Home Screen” document. To support your child’s literacy skills, I encourage you to set aside time each day for reading at home. Sharing stories together or letting your child choose their favourite books can make reading a fun and enjoyable experience. Your involvement plays a crucial role in developing their love for reading and improving their skills. Every two months, I send home a Scholastic book flyer. If you want to purchase books for your child to read at home, please use the code that is written on the flyer. Using my code helps me gain reward points that I can use towards buying books for the classroom library. You can also obtain a library card and check out books for your child free of cost.
